On the morning of March 30, the Nanyang Funiushan UNESCO Geopark Administration held the 2020 work meeting. The Administration, management agencies and parks under the control of the Geopark, and management agencies of National Nature Reserve of Nanyang Dinosaur-egg Fossil Group attended the meeting. Management agencies and parks reported their work and presented issues and advice based on the current management practice.

The meeting summarized the management experience of the Funiushan UGGp and the National Nature Reserve of Nanyang Dinosaur-egg Fossil Group in 2019. It also arranged the work in 2020 in view of the current problems and the work requirements of the National Forestry and Grass Administration for geoparks and nature reserves.

At the meeting, Fang Cheng, director of Funiushan UGGp Administration, put forward four main goals in 2020. Firstly, to gradually straighten out the management system and mechanism, and initially establish management and protection teams at the city and county levels. Secondly, to achieve the integration and optimization of the reserve, and finish demarcation and marking work of boundaries between “two areas” rezoned from “three areas”. Thirdly, to basically complete the rectification of the third mid-term revalidation of the Funiushan UGGp by UNESCO. Fourthly, to strengthen the units construction and continuously improve the work and service capabilities.

Fang emphasized that we must focus on four significant tasks of the work in 2020. Firstly, to make a success of optimizing the area and function division of the National Nature Reserve of Dinosaur-egg Fossil Group. Secondly, to straighten out the management system as soon as possible and effectively strengthen resources protection and daily supervision. Thirdly, to actively take measures to strengthen the management and protection of geological relics and science popularization, and continuously improve the Geopark’s management.
