From September 11 to 13, a delegation of 15 people from China Funiushan UGGp visited Zhangjiajie UGGp for investigation, exchange and study.

Zhangjiajie UGGp has the same karst landform characteristics as Funiushan UGGp, and also has the unique landform of large area of quartzy sandstone peak forest in the world. It was one of the first members of China's Global Geoparks in 2004. After many evaluations and years of construction, Zhangjiajie UGGp enjoys a very high international reputation, and has the world-class business card of China's Global Geopark and eco-tourism.

By investigating the Giant Salamander Museum, Zhangjiajie UGGp Museum and most of the geological relics and landscapes in the park, and having discussion with Zhangjiajie UGGp Administration, members of the delegation gained a lot. In terms of management, Zhangjiajie UGGp actively coordinates according to relevant national policies, and through the joint efforts of city and county governments, it builds a win-win platform, which enables the smooth management in the park and the improvement of infrastructure year by year. In terms of publicity and promotion, Zhangjiajie UGGp Administration has integrated geological knowledge into tour guides' explanations through various training courses. Through different forms of publicity and promotion, Zhangjiajie is known by the world, allowing visitors from all over the world to learn the geological changes of the earth for billions of years while enjoying the unique geological landscape of Zhangjiajie, and improve their awareness of geological relics and ecological environment protection.

After the symposium, Funiushan UGGp and Zhangjiajie UGGp jointly signed the sister park agreement. The two sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of geopark protection management, integration development of tourism and culture, personnel training, publicity and marketing, etc., so as to promote the effective protection of geological heritage resources and the sustainable development of the park.
