According to Xinhua News, Jan.13,by now there are 33 UNESCO Global Geoparks in China. Also China has the largest number of global geoparks in the world.

        On 13th,the International Training Courses of Geoparks’ Management and Development was held in China University of Geosciences (Beijing). Hundreds of trainees from global geoparks, academies and universities in China received the courses for eight days.

        Fengjun Guan, the director of the department of geologic environment, from the Ministry of Land and Resources in China, gave a speech on opening ceremony. He said 120 global geoparks in the world integrated to be UNESCO global geoparks by the end of November, 2015, including 33 Global geoparks in China.

        Mr. Guan also commented that after ten years of exploration and practice, China national geoparks by now already have a series of relevant laws and regulations which improve gradually the management system in geoparks. Especially in recent years, significant improvement have been made in the quality of construction and administrative level of China’s geoparks.

        By now, there are 33 global geoparks, 189 national geoparks, 52 approved qualified national geoparks, 235 provincial and approved qualified geoparks in China.

       As the founding country of GGN, China geoparks program has been applied for and carried out since 2003. Now, China is the country with the largest number of UNESCO Global Geoparks, with the total number of 33.
